How i got my website’s google rankings back ?

Search Engine Optimization is an art of experience.The more you delve deeper into the more you explore.And of course other new challenges evolve.

Recently one of my website rankings dropped over night.Worse ! for all key words in google.And you must have experienced that google is the largest provider of organic traffic to your website.

I checked expert forums and obtained some more vital info’s pertaining to that situation.The problem ? They were confusing and too many.

The situation happened to my website on march 10 , 2009.

When i carefully examine the website through google webmasters tools (a website for webmasters by google) i got these errors …

1.Duplicate Meta Tags

2.Duplicate Title Tags

3.Broken Links.

These were occured due to wrong configurations in joomla so i corrected them.I waited for a week.Nothing happened.

I again analysed the site and discovered that it was having link exchange (clear violation of google TOS) so i removed it.

I also posted a reconsideration request through Google Webmaster Tools Website.

I kept postings on the site and obtaining back links in the duration.

After 14 days on 24 th morning of march 2009 I got my rankings back with improved position and on new keyword positions.

Perhaps my website was penalised for some TOS violation of Google.

This period of penalty gave me some time to go through the terms and conditions by google for web-masters.

If suddenly your search rankings dropped in google and now found on 10 or 12 page which used to be on Page 1 i believe that is the outcome of penalization.

It is not possible to say every time the reason of your penalty as google will not tell you why you were penalised as they have business secrets attached to it.

Sql to copy data from one table to another.

Sometime you require to transfer data from one table to another when both tables are identicle and existing.

Recently i needed to copy data from one table to another in one of the joomla components table.

It was for seyret module.

I found this sql piece very handy…

INSERT IGNORE INTO mytable2 SELECT * FROM mytable ;

The query acted like a charm with php-myadmin Sql query window.
